Trama: L´ascesa e la rovina di un arbitro corrotto. La sfida inesauribile di due squadre rivali di infimo livello. La bolgia infernale della "terza categoria". Il ritorno in paese del giovane emigrato Matzutzi, arruolato tra gli "scarponi" dell´Atletico Bonaccattu, rivoluziona gli equilibri del campionato. Le vicende delle due squadre si alternano con l´ascesa professionale di Cruciani, ambizioso arbitro ai massimi livelli internazionali, per il quale però il destino ha in serbo una sorpresa… Il giovane cinema italiano festeggia il compleanno delle Giornate con una commedia d´autore che fotografa in chiave surreale vizi e virtù del nostro mondo.

Atletico Bonacattu, the most god-awful team in Sardinia, is humiliated once again this year by Sant´Andria, coached by Brai, the haughty wheeler-dealer used to hassling the peons of Atletico since he rules the roost. But the homecoming of the young emigrant Matzutzi, recruited to play for Atletico Bonaccattu, upsets the apple cart for the season.
