Trama: Francesco gestisce con la moglie Marta e l'amico Paolo un laboratorio di arti applicate a Roma. Marta è insofferente nei confronti del marito e lo tradisce con Paolo. Francesco riceve in eredità un immobile, situato a Istanbul. Per seguire la vendita dell'edificio egli parte per la Turchia. Arrivato a destinazione Francesco scopre che l'immobile è un hamam, un bagno turco. Egli conosce il custode dell'hamam, Osman, sua moglie, la figlia Fusun e il figlio Mehmet. Decide quindi di rimanere in Turchia e di ristrutturare l'hamam. Marta, dopo un periodo di tempo, lo raggiunge per discutere della separazione, e lo trova profondamente cambiato, più sereno e più gentile. Una notte lo sorprende in compagnia di Mehmet. Sconvolta, discute selvaggiamente con lui e decide di ripartire. Un imprevisto la fermerà e alla fine nessuno dei due coniugi tornerà in Italia.
Sinopsys: Together with his wife Marta and his friend Paolo, Francesco runs a studio for applied arts in Rome. Marta is impatient with her husband and betrays him with Paolo. Francesco inherits some property in Istanbul. He goes to Turkey to sell the building. In Istanbul, Francesco discovers that the building is a hamam, a Turkish bath. He meets the custodian of the hamam, Osman, his wife, his daughter Fusun and his son Mehmet. He decides to remain in Turkey and to restore the hamam. After a while Marta joins him to talk about their separation and finds him deeply changed, calmer and more polite. One night she catches him while with Mehmet. Upset, she argues wildly with him and decides to leave. She is prevented from doing so by an unexpected event. In the end, neither of the two returns to Italy.
