Trama: Edith Stein nasce a Breslavia da famiglia ebrea. Colta, filosofa e assistente di Husserl, viene folgorata dalla lettura della "Vita" di S. Teresa d'Avila, e nel 1922 si converte al cattolicesimo. È insegnante nel liceo di S. Magdalena delle domenicane e nell'istituto germanico di pedagogia scientifica di Munster ma la sua attività pubblica ha una brusca interruzione con l'inizio della persecuzione degli ebrei. Nel 1934 veste l'abito delle suore carmelitane nel convento di Konl-Lidenthal. Dopo l'inasprirsi delle persecuzioni agli ebrei, la Stein si trasferisce nel convento di Echt in Olanda. Ma la Germania dichiara la guerra e invade l'Olanda. Edith Stein viene condotta prima nel campo di concentramento di Amersfoort, poi in quello di Westerbork e infine a Auschwitz, dove muore nelle camere a gas. Edith Stein è stata beatificata nel 1987 da Giovanni Paolo II.
Sinopsys: Edith Stein was born in Breslavia to a Jewish family. Well educated, a philosopher, and Husserl's assistant, she was struck by her reading of the "Life" of St. Theresa of Avila, and in 1922 she converted to Catholicism;. She became a teacher in the Domenican high school of St. Magdalene and the German Institute for Scientific Education in Munster, but her public activities were brusquely interrupted with the beginning of the persecution of the Jews. In 1934 she became a Carmelite nun in the convent of Kohl-Lidenthal. With the embitterment of the persecution of the Jews, Stein moved to the convent of Echt in Holland. But Germany declared war and invaded Holland. Edith Stein was firstly taken to the concentration camp of Amersfoort, then to Westerbork and finally to Auschwitz, where she died in the gas chambers. Edith Stein was beatified in 1987 by John Paul II.
