Trama: Nell'estate del 1899, una giovane vedova olandese parte per l'italia. Va a raggiungere Hugo, assistente del marito, che sta compiendo un importante scavo archeologico. Hugo, innamorato da sempre di Emilie, spera che accetti la sua proposta di matrimonio. Nello stesso albergo soggiorna il capitano italiano Aldo. Lui è affascinato dalla pallida e nevrotica bellezza della donna. Anche Emilie è colpita dall'ufficiale, dai suoi modi cavallereschi e seduttivi. Per Emilie esplode la passione, incontenibile e fatale.
Sinopsys: 1899 After the death of her elder husband, the young window, Emilie, travels from Holland to a well known spa in Italy. There she hopes to cure her nervous constitution. She is welcomed by Hugo, a countryman and student of her late husband. He is already for a long time in love with Emilie but respect fully he endures time, until the time of of mourning has passed and it is allowed to ask her to marry him. At the same hotel, where Emilie and Hugo are staying, a young officer of the italian army, Aldo. has taken up his residence. Aldo is fascinated by Emilie, the moment he sees her. Emilie's surrender, at last, is total and unconditionally.
