Sinopsys: The writer Ernesto, a rich widower of sixty-four without any children, lives alone in a large house in a rich neighbourhood in Rome. He is a closed person with little social inclination, and lives his solitude as a conscious choice that satisfies him. He hires Luana as his maid, a young girl from the outskirts of town, ignorant and clumsy, but vital and sensual. They soon become lovers. But as their relationship becomes more intimate, Luana's behaviour becomes strange, sexually eccentric and provocative. Plagued by jealousy, Ernesto tries to tighten the circle around the girl, to have her for himself. Ernesto invites her on holiday to Ischia. The girl is enthusiastic. Perhaps this is the prelude to something more important. But Ernest doesn't understand, and when they return to Rome, she disappears. Two and a half years later, Ernesto and Luana meet by chance. She is married and has a daughter. Ernesto's life is also changed; he has had two heart attacks and there is the chance that the next will be fatal. Ernesto makes the only generous gesture which he is capable of; he makes Luana the owner of his home.
