Trama: Ruby (Jean Reno) ha in testa una sola idea, vendicarsi dell'uomo che ha assassinato la donna che lui amava. Quentin (Gérard Depardieu) ha in testa solo pochissimi "neuroni". Quei pochi che bastano per essere molto gentile e talmente stupido da entrare nel libro dei primati. Dopo aver nascosto il suo bottino ed essere finito dietro le sbarre, Ruby, incallito fuorilegge, incontra Quentin, colosso sciocco e logorroico. Quentin dimostrerà immediatamente a Ruby grande amicizia, intralciando però i suoi tentativi di evasione e costringendolo poi a unire le forze per scappare insieme. Le strade dei due uomini si incrociano dentro la cella di una prigione, dove Ruby medita la fuga per recuperare il denaro sottratto al perfido Vogel (Jean-Pierre Malo) e portare a termine la sua vendetta. Il buon Quentin, dal canto suo, spera di poter aprire un bistrot con il suo nuovo amico del cuore. Dopo una rocambolesca evasione ideata da Quentin, inizia una divertentissima fuga per sfuggire ai gendarmi e agli strampalati sicari ingaggiati da Vogel per recuperare il denaro sottrattogli da Ruby.
Sinopsys: Ruby (Jean Reno) has one thing on his mind - revenge against the man who killed the woman he loved. Quentin (Gerard Depardieu) hasn't got much in his head at all. He's kind but he's also so stupid that he could make it into the Guiness Book of Records. During a spell behind bars Ruby and Quentin strike up a friendship. Ruby's thinking of breaking out so he can get revenge. Quentin comes up with a plan and the two escape together and go on a wild adventure trying to keep out of the way of the police and hitmen who are out for their blood.
