Sinopsys: In a mysterious Berlin factory during the period of the Third Reich, the Dailermanns drudge through the monotony of a marriage marred by ideological and cultural differences. The husband, August, is an SS major and the supreme commander of the factory, while the wife, Franziska, a woman who comes from an affluent, upper middle class background, cannot put up with the dismal atmosphere of the site. Miklòs, a Hungarian Jew, is a new servant who arrives at the same time as a number of works of art are found. The daily conservations on topics of philosophy and art that take place between Franziska and the servant leave the woman yearning for a rediscovery of the intellectual life. Unfortunately, this sentiment is accompanied by an awareness that Jews are being exterminated in that very factory, including numerous talented artists.
