Trama: "GALLIA divisa est in partes tres …"
Sinopsys: "GALLIA divisa est in partes tres …" Remember that? It's Caesar, in the DE BELLO GALLICO. What would happen if, at 38+ you were asked to translate it again? But first things first. Giorgio is 38, his wife's an architect, and his life's fantastic. He's a pediatrician but ironically it will be the arrival of a baby that gives things an upset. Lorenzo is 38, his job is selling homes but he won't budge from Mom and Dad's place. He still sleeps in the same bunk bed he did as a kid. But when love comes he'll be forced to choose. Piero is 38, he conducts a successful program on national radio and has a lover, actually a girlfriend, actually a lover. In other words, a girlfriend who thinks she's a lover because he told her he's married. In actual fact he's not married to anyone. But wants people to think so because… because another toothbrush in the bathroom scares him. Luisa is 38, she has a daughter, an ex-husband, a job as "product manager" and little time, very little time. Virgilio is 38, and… doesn't do a thing. He's married to a rich woman who supports him. He has many secret affairs, because, as he says, "you can't spend your whole life with one woman without the help of another" Francesca 37, is a chef and suffers from sexual dependency. She attends a self-group for the sexually dependent and has impressive results: she's close to reaching 100 days with no compulsive sex. An enormous goal for her. Eleonora is 38 and is… a ghost, who returns from the past to put order in some unfinished things of years ago. Cruell@95 on the other hand, is 20, she has a long life ahead and a great desire to dream. But what do these 38-year-olds have in common? Simple, 20 years ago they were classmates. But above all they were friends, they were a group. Then something happened and the group broke up. Shortly they'll become a group again, at least for a few days: the Ministry of Education has annulled their high school graduation exams and they'll have to take them over, or see the annulment of all qualifications acquired thereafter. And so we'll see them together again, like old times, but with a few more wrinkles and a little less hair. With a desire to savor youth again, but with a greater or lesser awareness that this period is over. A brilliant, sentimental comedy that brings a generation to measure itself with lives which, after 20 years, have gone all directions, and with them, so have dreams and disappointments. And Cruell@95? She's the only one who is really supposed to take the graduation exams. And it will be very important for our outgrown teens who resist growing up. Because in the long run, there's nothing like a person of 20 to make you realize you're no longer 20 yourself.
