Trama: …i vostri figli non stanno fermi, giocherellano con le mani e con i piedi… non riescono a stare seduti sulle loro sedie… corrono, si arrampicano… hanno difficoltà a giocare… si comportano come se fossero azionati da un motore… quando gli si parla sembrano non ascoltare… sono distratti…non riescono a stare in silenzio, parlano troppo! hanno difficoltà ad aspettare il proprio turno… sparano le risposte prima che sia terminata la domanda… interrompono o si intromettono nelle comunicazioni con gli altri… ATTENZIONE! anche solo sei di queste espressioni comportamentali e probabilmente qualcuno un giorno vi dirà che vostro figlio soffre di ADHD - DEFICIT DELL'ATTENZIONE E IPERATTIVITA', una anormalità neuro-chimica geneticamente determinata. A seconda del Paese in cui vivete, che voi siate in America, Germania, Francia o Italia, vi sarà offerta, con più o meno facilità, la soluzione ai vostri problemi: una pasticca di metilfenidato o di atomoxetina. Se la vostra vita fosse un film a questo punto premeremmo il tasto "pausa" sul telecomando, perché la realtà che state vivendo è molto più complessa di quanto vi hanno raccontato. La comunità scientifica dibatte e si divide da più di 50 anni su cosa sia l'Adhd veramente. La vostra diagnosi dipenderà dunque esclusivamente dal medico che incontrerete sulla vostra strada. Di certo c'è che i test di laboratorio ed i criteri utilizzati per la diagnosi sono limitati e la cura farmacologica non è senza conseguenze: l'atomexina produce allucinazioni, gravi danni epatici e tendenze suicide, e il metilfenidato è un'anfetamina, classificata dalla DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) nello stesso gruppo dei narcotici, insieme con l'eroina, la morfina e la cocaina. L'ONU parla di emergenza sanitaria, denuncia e lancia l'allarme Adhd " il Consiglio invita le nazioni a valutare la possibile sovrastima dell'Adhd e frenino l'uso eccessivo del metilfenidato (Ritalin). Negli Stati Uniti è stata diagnosticata l'ADHD nei bambini di appena 1 anno".

Even if they show only six of these behavioural traits, you may one day be told that your child has ADHD – ATTENTION DEFICIT AND HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER, a genetically caused neuro-chemical abnormality. Depending on the country you live in - America, Germany, France or Italy - you’ll be offered the solution to your problems with varying degrees of ease: a pill of methylphenidate or atomoxetine. And if your life were a film, you’d hit the "pause" key right here, because the reality of the situation would be a lot more complex than what you’ve been told. The scientific community has been debating what ADHD really is for more than 50 years now. The diagnosis you receive depends on the physician you go to. The only certainty is that the laboratory tests and the diagnostic criteria are limited, and there are side-effects to the pharmacological treatment: atomoxetine can cause hallucinations, serious liver damage and suicidal tendencies, while methylphenidate is an amphetamine, classified by the Drug Enforcement Administration, or DEA, in the same group of narcotics as heroin, morphine and cocaine. The UN has sounded the alarm over the ADHD emergency, with the Security Council, "urging nations to consider whether ADHD has been overestimated, and to control the excessive use of methylphenidate (Ritalin). In the United States, children only 1 year old have been diagnosed with ADHD".
