Trama: Due uomini lasciano la propria città e si mettono in cammino, decisi a traversare l'Italia a passo d'uomo, dall'Alto Adige alla Sicilia. Questo film è il racconto in presa diretta dei 2191 chilometri percorsi durante i tre mesi lungo la strada, la storia di un gruppo di amici e di come un grande viaggio a piedi possa cambiare la vita. Autentico come un racconto davanti al fuoco di bivacco, e coinvolgente come un romanzo di avventura.
Sinopsys: In order to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Italy Unity, the writer Enrico Brizzi, together with the trekkers friends of Associazione Francigena XXI, will leave from the northest point of the nation, close to Bolzano, and reach Capo Passero, the south-eastern extremity of Sicily, after a three months trip by foot. The travel will start at the beginning of April and will end after 2191 kilometers (around 1400 miles). The itinerary follows the national mountain backbone, revealing all the natural and cultural differences portraying Italy. It will represent an humble and devote way, reminding ancient pilgrim’s one, to celebrate the importance of the National Unity, conquered in 1861 but nowadays more than ever under attack. Enrico Brizzi and Francigena XXI will start walking in April: from the valley populated by Ladin’s and Germanic’s communities, they will climb down to the theatres of the Great War, reaching then the industrialized Pianura Padana. They will walk along any possible ancient footpath, crossing and exploring the heart of Appennini, heading the crest between Umbria and Marche Regions, then walking through Italian’s greatest national parks and through the Abruzzi area, recently devastated by an earthquake. The “Regio Tratturo”, an ancient and suggestive path existing since the Borbonic ages, will lead them though Molise and Sannio. They will have to cross the Cilento Area and the little Basilicata’s strip which overlooks the Tirreno (Tyrrhenian Sea), then walk down to Calabria covering other miles in order to reach the Strait (known all over the world as Stretto di Messina). They will eventually have to cross by ferryboat the small part of sea separating Calabria from Sicilia, face the great Vulcan Etna and walk down to Capo Passero, their final destination. Their guide through the lands and villages will be the pages by the national greatest writers, secular breviary for the walkers, looking for a National Identity that a stereotype describes as vague, while the common language and the precious shared literary heritage make it indisputable.
