Trama: Arnold Gardner, quarantatreenne, dopo la morte di Duncan Mackay, conduttore del talk show "La venticinquesima ora", ottiene la direzione di questo programma. La sua presenza sul video crea un immediato interesse tra i telespettatori e il talk show ottiene un grosso successo. E' un momento di grande soddisfazione per Arnold, ma dal suo remoto passato ecco riemergere Eddie Greenberg che fu suo amico di infanzia. E' malato, frustrato dall'insuccesso, risentito e invidioso del vecchio amico dal quale pretende ora, in televisione, una confessione piena e totale di antiche colpe. Arnold tenta in tutti i modi di sottrarsi a questo ricatto ma Eddie è determinato a raggiungere il suo obiettivo, uccide una serie di persone solo a scopo dimostrativo, per evidenziare la sua pericolosità. Arnold è costretto a cedere, a raccontare in televisione in diretta il suo "segreto".
Sinopsys: Forty-year-old Arnold Gardner, after the death of Duncan Mackay, compere of the "The twenty-fifth Hour" talk show, is put in charge of the program. His role on screen creates immediate interest and the program becomes a great success with TV audiences. This proves to be a period of great satisfaction for Arnold, but his childhood friend Eddie Greenberg suddenly comes on the scene. Eddie is ill and frustrated by lack of success, and is so resentful and envious of Arnold's fame that he wants him to make a full public confession of a "sin" he committed in his young days. Arnold does all he can to defend himself from his friend's blackmail, but Eddie is so determined to have his "pound of flesh" that he kills a series of people to show just how serious he is, thus forcing Arnold to reveal his secret on television.
