Trama: Americani squattrinati e ballerini argentini, ninfomani oscene e maschi stanchi che si prostituiscono, soldati e donne incinte, vecchi sadici e piccoli balordi. Sono questi i personaggi che riempiono i cinema, dove il sacro si mescola al profano, dove la gente va per vedere i film ma anche per trovarsi insieme e forse anche per fare l'amore. Posto che Marco Ferreri rievoca con passione e nostalgia, in un alto e originale tributo all'arte del cinema e alle sue laiche chiese. Nitrato d'argento è un'anticonformista dichiarazione d'amore alle stelle del cinema e alle orde anonime che riempiono le sale in tutto il mondo, un anarchico (e forse funerario) monumento allo spettatore sconosciuto, ma soprattutto un affettuoso panorama che ci dà un secolo di storia, anche attraverso i fatti nuovi: i volti delle stelle e dei registi e singole cornici di un cinema che non esiste più.
Sinopsys: American down-and-outs and Argentinean dancers, lewd nymphomaniacs and worn-out male hookers, soldiers and pregnant women, aging sadists and smalltime criminals. These are the characters who fill the movie theatres, where the sacred is mixed with the profane, where people go to see the films but also to get together and maybe make love as well, places that Marco Ferreri remembers with passion and nostalgia in a highly original tribute to the art of cinema and its lay churches. Nitrate Base is an anticonformist declaration of love for the stars of the screen and the anonymous hordes who filled the movie houses all over the world, an anarchic (and perhaps funerary) monument to the unknown cinemagoer, but above all an affectionated panorama which gives us a century of history, also through the new events, the faces of the stars and the directors, and the individual frames of cinema that non longer exist.
