Trama: Catherine C., giovane attrice, conduce sconosciuti a casa sua e si concede ad essi, con indifferenza, raccontando loro la storia di un grande amore perduto, Pierre Indemini: il loro legame è stato breve e indimenticabile. Catherine gira un film a Vienna. Conosce Fanny, donna ricchissima, misteriosa, complessa e piena di desideri. Ne è sedotta e diventa una sua preda, Fanny racconta all'amica di un amante eccezionale. Catherine scopre che è Pierre Indemini, che ora vive a Vienna e si dedica a ricerche scientifiche. I due si incontrano e si separano nuovamente, questa volta per sempre. Catherine è ora a Parigi, dove interpreta i suoi ruoli migliori. La sostengono e la esaltano le lettere di Pierre. Questi muore e Fanny, che possiede alcune sue lettere, in uno scontro con Catherine, si uccide. Catherine resta sola, devastata, con il suo passato. Ma un giorno riceve la visita di uno strano personaggio...
Sinopsys: Catherine C., a lovely actress brings strangers to her home and allows them to make love to her, while she, unmoved, tells them of the great lost love of her life, Pierre Indemini with whom she had a brief but unforgettable relationship. Catherine is making a film in Vienna. Here she gets to know Fanny, a wealthy, mysterious, complex woman, full of desire. Catherine is fascinated by this woman and soon falls a prey to her. Fanny tells her of her new and exceptional lover. Catherine discovers that it is Pierre Indemini who now lives in Vienna where he works as a scientist. They meet again. This time their separation is forever, Catherine is now in Paris where she has an overwhelming success playing her best roles ever. She is encouraged by Pierre's letters. Pierre dies and Fanny, who gets hold of some of his letters, kills herself during a quarrel with Catherine. Now Catherine is alone with her past. But one day she receives a visit from a strange person...
